Our Departure is postponed to May 3rd

We recently learned that our departure to China has been postponed to Tuesday May 3rd. As such we will spend 4 extra days visiting Beijing and recovering from our jet lag before we fly to Shanghai to finally meet Huifan on Mother's day! We fly to Shanghai on either Saturday or Sunday, May 7th or May 8th, and will be united with Huifan the same day. We are hoping that there are no further changes to our itinerary. We will update as much as possible our blog. We are so grateful with all your comments and words of encouragements.

Cheers!
Sonya, Amélie and Martin and so to be part of the Latour family, Jacob Huifan!

We Received our Notice to Travel to China!!

We are very happy to announce that we received our notice to travel to China to bring home the newest member of our family, Jacob Huifan Latour. He is 20 months old and currently in an orphanage in Shanghai City. We are all very excited and anxiously await our departure. Mama, Papa and big sister Amélie leave April 28th for Beijing and then onto Shanghai on May 1st and hope to have him in our arms that same day. Amélie is the happiest kid and cannot wait to have a little brother to torment!
It's wonderful to watch her prepare for the arrival of her little brother. She has carefully selected which stuffed animals to put in Huifan's crib and which toys of hers he can and of course cannot play with!
Thanks to our friend Mingyan we have been able to speak to a staff member at the orphanage who knows english and has given us updates on Huifan's health and development. According to Huifan's NouNous (the nanny's that care him at the orphanage) he is 9kg, 73cm and has 14 teeth. He is starting to walk when holding their hand and he knows how to say Mama and Jiejie (which means sister). My feeling is Amélie will have him running in no time since she insists she will show him how to play soccer and hockey this spring (I hope that goalie equipment fits him!!).
As was done with Amélie we look forward to sharing our journey of our trip to China and the many years to follow.
